Using PD 16.1 with the DBMS IBM DB2 Version 10 for z/OS i found that there is no generation of some (important) objects in the "Apply Model Changes to Database" dialog

IMHO it doesn´t make sense, that i can´t  modify or add a storage, tablespace , user or something else.

For me it looks like, that everything what is difficult is switched off !

In special, there is a situation in  DB2 Version 10, where you can assign 1 table to 1 tablespace (called universal tablespaces) and its necessary to drop the tablespace and recreate it when you need to "drop" the table.

Using PowerDesigner version 15.2. I am generating individual create scripts for each database object. For tables and views, everything works as expected. Individual scripts are created with the name of the object and appropriate DDL. However, for the foreign key scripts (which are generated independent of the create table), the individual scripts are empty and all the foreign key contraints appear in the single mandatory file that must always be specified. Appears to be a bug. Would appreciate any feedback.

I am evaluating PowerDesigner using the 15 day trial download.  Unfortunately I'm having problems with missing toolbar buttons and menu options.  I'm not sure if these are missing due to the context I'm in, or the fact I am using a trial version.   What I have managed to do so far has impressed me, but obviously I'm greatly hampered by these things.

To give an example;  when I enter PowerDesigner I can choose to create a Physical Data Model.  This shows up in the Object Browser as expected.  However, the toolbars above are completely blank.  They are there, and appear to have invisible buttons on them, with no text or icons.  Clicking on most accomplishes nothing, but then I can't know what each one is supposed to do.

Equally, the menus appear to be mostly empty.  The File menu, for instance only has a single entry for "New Model".   The Edit menu has a single "Undo" that is disabled.  The Tools menu has a single "Complete Links" and nothing else.

Is this normal behaviour?  Am I failing to do something?  Any idea how I can fix this?

I have created a Business Process Model Diagram in Power Designer with BPMN 2.0 process language. I was wondering if there is a possibility to somehow map data from PDM or LDM to process tasks? I know it is possiblewith other process languages but BPMN doesn't seem to offer this functionality. I would like to link table attributes from PDM to process tasks in order to show which processes/process steps are using/changing which data. Is there a possibility to model it somehow in Power Designer while modelling processes with BPMN?

is there a way, to configure PD that way, I can reuse in a call activity a process defined in another model?

As for now, I'm only able to point to processes defined in the same model I'm creating the call activity in.

Or, what to use instead of call activities to be able to reuse/call a process inside another process...?

We have a simple HANA table with one unique index on it:

Now, we are generating the DDL script for this table... the code for creation of the index gets generated.. but it's not a unique index anymore...

Am I doing something wrong, or is it a bug?

We have a PowerAMC 16.5 server with SP0 (I suppose, I only see 16.5.0.3982 in the client),which works OK,  and a licence for 1 concurrent user.

We want to upgrade to SP4.

In the archive POWAMC165004_0-10013313.ZIP, I find 3 exe :

- PowerAMC165SP04_Portal.exe

- PowerAMC165SP04x86.exe  (the client, I suppose it should be there)

- PowerAMC165SP04x86_Proxy.exe (useless for us)

I launch portal.exe. The 1st question is the server for a floating licence. I enter the IP and the port.

It complains that the licence is not ok. The log contains :

Failed to obtain 1 license(s) for PD_SHELL feature from license file(s) or server(s).

Licenses exist for PowerDesigner16.5, but a license containing the configured (LT=FL;PKG=WBPM) attributes could not be obtained. Verify that PowerDesigner16.5 is configured to use the correct type of license, and either reconfigure; or generate and deploy the desired license from the Sybase Product Download Center.

Even if I choose not to continue the installation, it continues to update, deploys a war and breaks everything: the portal does not find its licence.

Any idea to correct this or to make it reuse the existing licence ?   (This is a virtual machine. I rolled back to previsous state.)

We have a production instance of PD 16.5 SP3 Portal running and we have had email notifications working fine for several months, but after the holiday period it seems to have broken :-(.

When ever from the "Repository Explorer" we select the "Subscriptions" tab the status icon moves into a "Disconnected state"- .

When looking at "Settings\Notification" that all looks good - and the "Test Mail Server" looks good. Additionally in "Settings\Server Status" the "Change Notification Information" is running.

We have bounced the portal, and looked at both the Server & Client log files (with debug logging on) - and see nothing that stands out. Additionally we have mail working on the same box using different applications (this helps show its not a network firewall/machine permissions), and on a different portal pointing to a different repository.

Has anyone seen anything like this, know the solution or a way to move diagnosis forward? Any ideas on what the Disconnected state means in this scenario?

The Excel import was fixed recently, to support the addition of index columns. I'm having a similar problem - in this case I can't attach attributes to a non-primary LDM entity identifier.

Here's a sample from my Excel sheet:

Both entities have an identifier called AK. In the attributes column, I'm using two different ways of naming the attribute I want to add; I've also tried adding quotes to the whole string, and to the attribute name.

When I run the above import, the result claims success, though nothing is actually updated:

In the Excel Import definition, the Attributes column is mapped to the 'list of associated objects' called 'Attributes'.

As part of the same import, I'm also unable to change the relationship to Join via the AK instead of the primary identifier, and unable to edit the Join child attribute so it refers to another pre-existing attribute.

I think the problem with the Join could be solved if I could provide the name of the Join in the import, but the import doesn't recognise the name column if I provide it.

I think that I have solved my licence issue (see previous thread), but Tomcat does not start. I've applied PL02 after this SP4, that's not better.

I have a serice called "ServeurPortail16" pointing to:

Hi, I have used the "Reverse engineer->XML Definition" and this way imported XSD files (defining ISO messages) into PowerDesigner 16.5 (DataArchitect license).

Then I used "Tools->Generate Physical Data Model" followed by "Tools -> Generate Conceptual Data Model".

The resulting CDM seems ok but is organised visually in a way where you even can't guess the hieracic structure of the message defined by the XSD.

The XSD has a hierarchic structure and I have tried to e.g. import the XSD to Eclipse with the hyperModel plugin and the result is a very nice hierarchic UML diagram exactly mirroring the XSD structure. I mean, the XSD structure in e.g. XMLSpy and the hyperModel diagram generated in Eclipse is readable because you see the hierarchic structure, but the structure displayed default in PowerDesigner is spaghetti-like, impossible to see any top-down structure for a reasonable complex XSD. Generally I would like to see the "bigger" objects on top and then a top-down structure where you clearly see the hierarchy of gradually smaller parts/objects, resembling the hierchy you may see when looking at a XSD in e.g. XMLSpy in the schema/design view....

Anyone who knows if it is possible to (automatically) get a better model structure, maybe by using some view settings? I have not found any setting for how to change the organisation of the model so far.

we are in process of mapping source to target tables (and attributes of course).

I'm asking myselft, if we really should use the DMM or maybe the simeple mapping editor will do the job ...

My biggest concern is, we have sometimes "logic" inbetween, like for example:

1. TargetTable1.Column1 is a concatenation of SourceTable1.Column1, SourceTable2.Column2, Sequence.NEXTVAL

2. TargetTable1.Column2 is populated from a lookup table LookupTable1.Column2 based on SourceTable1.Column2 (it's a conversion INT -> CHAR)

3. There are some calculations for some INT attributes, like -,+,/ and * operations

Can I utilize the mapping editor to model all of this, or shall we really stict to DMM.

DMM is quite complitated and close to the logic of Replication Server. For example, I was trying to calculate a new attribute, and was forced to pick a data type for this attribute... but there are noly typical Replication Server data types available....

So back to my question: is there a rule, defining how far can I go using the simple Mapping Editor?

But again ... this would indicate, we have to switch to DMM.

When I bring up the list of objects, and click on the Excel icon, the only option I have is .csv.  As of last week, I used to be able to export to .xls or .xlsx formats.  Any ideas?  Is this a user-settable option?
